Looking for a flat in Mendoza

Hi everyone,

My name is Kate, I'm English and have been living in Mendoza for 3 months so far. When my boyfriend and I arrived at the beginning of January we stayed in a hostel to start with thinking that it would be easy to find a flat by looking in the newspaper and didn't expect it to take any longer than a week or so. How wrong we were! Whilst there are a lot of rooms, flats and houses available to rent, the problem is that being a foreigner it's impossible to provide the kind of references that 95% of landlords or agencies are looking for (not to mention the 3 months deposit normally asked for).

Luckily we came upon mihouse.com.ar which just made the whole process a lot less painful. Within a week of signing up to it we had moved into a really nice place which we love. Mihouse.com.ar provides you with a list of rooms available to rent in flats or houses throughout Mendoza which don't require references or a deposit. Once you find a place you would like to take a look at, you just contact Mercedes and she puts you in touch with the right people to view the place. If you decide to take the room, you pay Mihouse.com.ar a one off payment of 100 pesos and that's that.

The house we are living, is in a really nice area near Parque San Martin, safe, residential and close to the centre too. Our place has 14 rooms and we share with a mixture of foreign and Argentine students and also Mendocinos profesionals. The common language of the house is Spanish which has meant that our language has improved a huge amount since moving in. The house has great facilities with 2 patios so is very sociable. We've had a great time so far in Mendoza so I wish you all the best of luck in your stay here.

  1. I stayed in the same house for over a month. Indeed, unlike most of the renting place in Mendoza, there's no messy paperwork, cut-throat deposit. I just pay for the period that I stay and didn't have to worry about bills or expenses as they are all included, as well as house-keeping service. It was really easy, the atmosphere is homely and socialable. And the people who run it are really friendly and flexible. Staying in this house had make my experience in Mendoza so much more richer; lots of impromptu and planned social gathering with friends and housemates in the courtyard, drinking wine and chatting. Sweet life!
